Because my memory has been less than spectacular, I need this blog to remember ……………….. things I did today. Or plan to do someday. Or want to remember one day.

Wish me luck =)

I_promise_to_saveLast Monday, I woke up as an angsty, viciously bored little girl who decided she’s had enough of being just a full-time grad school student and a struggling photographer. Impulsively, this angsty person decided to pass her resume to the nearest Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf branch hoping to get the 6am-1pm shift as a part-time barista just so she could have something better to do in the mornings and so her son would stop referring to her as “unemployed” whenever his teachers would ask what his mother did for a living. Whoever could have imagined that by the end of the week, the same girl who had earlier considered just serving coffee at the neighborhood café would be hired by a global leader in infrastructure and engineering as an environmental consultant for a big project commissioned by Shell?

Wheee! =) …the best part is, it’s not the usual 9-5 desk job and I won’t even have to report to the office everyday and it pays well =)…I’ll learn a lot from the job for sure and I can still go to school, take pictures, and perhaps, if i could pull it off, even do the coffee bean thingy as long as I’m done fulfilling my checklist of duties [which, I must admit, is a very tall order though]… the downside is… I’m kinda pressured with a timetable of specific deliverables (so being able to pull off all those things I mentioned above is a tad bit too ambitious of me) and once the big project is over, I’m off the payroll too…but in a way, that might be a good thing too in case I wanted to pursue other things…Shell_1oh well…  I’ll worry about that another time because for now, I’m as happy as a clam =)

Ms. Yell,

so proud of you honey… imagine to work with one of the major petrol player (take note its S-H-E-L-L as in SHELL and even rhymes with Michelle and ME SHELL… obviously you were made for one another) without worrying of losing time with your regular daily activities… welp, what more can i say? keep up coz there is no way to go but up inside a red and yellow colored, as you said, “clam”… yakang-yaka mo yan just stay focused and patient… anung malay mo one day you can dictate the price of petrol products (anlayo no’)…

overheard (”seph dapat i-blow-out ka ni michelle siya para para lalo siyang swertihin”)…

anyways… i believe that you deserve all the best and goodluck…

You made a convert out of me. I am marking your blog and am gonna visit it often. I just want to congratulate you on your job. I too value jobs that give me the freedom to choose not to go to the office whenever I want to (which is rare because I love my job) and pay well enough to support the lifestyle I want for myself. I got employed as a “regular” employee before but I found that consultancy work, specially for multinationals or companies that provide aid to the country i.e. USAID, UN…, is so much better as long as you could save up for the in-between-jobs time or if you have some other source of income (like a father/mother/benefactor). I sincerely hope you have a great time in your new job and that you get to balance it with your family and social life well. When it’s the right job for you, it will inevitably open doors and lead you to more challenging work… don’t get too worried about the end of the contract. When you do your job well, people often find a niche for you (because people are naturally good to those who show goodness*… be it in interpersonal relationships or in doing the work… I don’t need to be intuitive to know that you’re good in both senses…) Good luck and congratulations!

BIG CHEERS Michelle I believe you’re the only pearl in New Manila.Shell is one of my biggest client when I was selling check valves imported from USA. Would you know the location of your first project? Hope you have one here up North. Again, Congratulations Michelle.

Congrats Michelle on your new job!!!…Guess brewing coffee isn’t meant for you…but rather burning rubber (shell gas that is…knowing you it should be environment friendly)…drive safe…you’ll go a long way :)
