Please people, do not park your car anywhere near the overpass/Ateneo bridge along Katipunan now that the rainy season has begun. If you do, and it rains, be prepared to kick yourself, bang your head on the wall and cry buckets and buckets of tears for not following my advice.
My beloved little civic got half-submerged in a flash flood along Katipunan Ave. yesterday. And when I say half-submerged, I am not exaggerating … I was stupid and naïve enough to think that the water would not seep inside the car but after the floods subsided and I no longer had to swim through the flood to get near my car, I found out what a HUGE mistake it was to park in front of National Bookstore near the said overpass/Ateneo bridge. I went hysterical when I saw that to my horror, there were puddles of water inside the car and everything was absolutely soaked like a sponge, from the car seats, to the pillow I would sit on to feel tall enough to drive. Even the seatbelts were squishy! I also finally found the container of cookies that had gone missing a few months ago floating inside. Hell, there were even a few gallons of rain water in the friggin’ trunk! I am not kidding people!
This morning I died a million deaths when I saw our driver dismantling what was left of my car. He took out all the seats and other removable parts to dry them out. I was told that the car would have to be brought to the repair shop and that it would cost a blinding amount of money to repair the damage done to the engine/lights/stereo whatever.
At least I’m thankful, absolutely thankful that I did not leave my laptop and my camera inside the car! I don’t know what I’d do to myself if I did.
(A few hours after I posted the entry above, I found out that there were worst things that actually happened to other people and their cars that night… 3 people died from a car accident due to those floods that very same night…read the story here)
